Straits State Park is a camping park, located in St. Ignace. The park does not have swimming or hunting, but offers a stunning view of the Mackinac Bridge and the Straits of Mackinac. The primary activity for campers is watching freighters pass by from the shores of Lake Huron and viewing the Mackinac Bridge, especially at night when lights silhouette the bridge against the dark sky. Other available activities include picnicking, a playground, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. The park is near boat lines serving Mackinac Island, one of Michigan’s most popular tourist attractions, and is a centralized area for vacationers to use as a base camp while touring the many other attractions in the area.
