Fayette Historic State Park is one of the five state parks containing museums that bring history alive. Fayette features a restored iron smelting company town from 1867-1891. It offers exhibits, guided tours and special events. The town site is jointly administered with the Michigan Historical Center, Department of State. The parks 711 acres include the town, 80 campsites, boat camping, a picnic area, playground and visitor center. It has three miles of shoreline on Big Bay De Noc and provides opportunities for snowmobliling, cross country skiing, boating, hunting, fishing, swimming on a sandy beach and hiking on seven miles of trails.
