One of Ann Arbor’s most beloved parks, Bird Hills’ wooded trails are popular with nature lovers and dog walkers (dogs are required to be leashed). From the old homestead and pine plantation in the center of the park, shady ravines with diverse plant life and towering old trees shade downward towards the Huron River valley.

Due to the variety of natural communities in Bird Hills, opportunities for wildlife viewing are plentiful. Black, red, and fox squirrels, ground squirrels, deer, and butterflies are very common here. A more trained eye could find frogs and toads, evidence of the resident foxes, and many species of birds, including hooded warblers and one of the few known nesting sites for turkey vultures.

MapDirections
