<< Preamble >>
The Department of Natural Resources is vitally concerned with providing equal employment opportunities and preventing discriminatory practices in selection procedures and conditions of employment. It is important that the Department's commitment to equal employment opportunities be widely understood.
<< General Policy >>
The Department of Natural Resources is an Equal Opportunity Employer. No person shall be denied an opportunity for employment with the Department because of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, handicap, or any other facts which would deny a person access to employment for discriminatory reasons.
As an equal opportunity employer, the Department shall ensure that no employee is subject to discriminatory practices in the administration of all employment policies and procedures. Discrimination on the basis of sex shall include sexual harassment in the work place and shall not be permitted.
To enhance equal employment opportunities, the Department shall utilize an Affirmative Action Plan. The Plan shall insure that members of minority groups, women, and handicappers qualified to perform jobs are included in the employment selection process and assured of equal consideration for appointment to positions in the Department.
The Department shall make full use of all procedures adopted by the Civil Service Commission which are intended to assure equal opportunities for minorities, women and handicappers. It shall strive to attain and maintain a percentage of minorities, women and handicappers in the Department work force which is consistent with their availability in the population we serve.
