<< Preamble >>
It is proper and important that certain timber resources on State land be converted into lumber for use on State projects. Efficient storage, distribution and wise use of this resource is a responsibility of the Department.
<< General Policy >>
Lumber storage yards shall be set up at appropriate locations by Regional Directors who shall maintain in each a workable inventory by initiating cutting projects from State land where timber is available. Every consideration shall be given to utilizing this inventory on Departmental projects in the most economical and practical manner. Costs shall be properly prorated.
<< Specific Policies >>
I. The Regional Directors shall be responsible for location of yards, maintaining adequate inventories consistent with the availability of timber, and operating a control system. Release of lumber shall be by the Regional Director, or his assigned representative.
2. Lumber may be cut for special projects and stored in these yards.
3. Regional Directors may release lumber to other regions when the occasion warrants.
