<< Preamble >>
The Game Law, Act 286, Public Acts of 1929, makes it unlawful for any person to keep any wild animal or wild bird in captivity for public exhibition except under a permit from the Director of the Department of Natural Resources who is authorized to issue permits he deems advisable and to establish regulations governing such exhibition. This involves temporary exhibition, such as television and shows, as well as permanent exhibition.

The Department shall issue permits as deemed advisable to keep any wild animal or bird in captivity for public exhibition. Permits shall specify conditions. Guidelines shall be developed for issuing permits which will assure humane and decent treatment of animals and birds and furnishes the public with the correct impression concerning care and legal requirements wild animals and birds in captivity.
