2110 - PHEASANTS - PUT-TAKE AREAS
Issued January 1, 1977

<< Subject >>

PHEASANTS - PUT-TAKE AREAS

<< Preparing Division >>

Wildlife

<< Preamble >>

As numbers of hunters increase and available hunting areas on private lands decrease, the development of a put-take pheasant hunting program presents an alternative that is attractive to many sportsmen.  Certain game areas and recreational areas provide attractive and suitable locations for this type of hunting.

<< General Policy >>

The Department shall provide areas and hunting stock for put-take pheasant hunting in locations consistent with demand as determined by a thorough investigation, and within budget constraints.  The areas shall be as close as possible to the demand, namely population centers.  Seasons shall be determined by the Department as well as regulations for the proper operation of such facilities.  Such areas may be used for other suitable activities when not in use as put-take areas.
