The Natural Resources Commission appoints the Director of the Department who ties the ultimate responsibility for administration of all Department functions.

In consultation with the Natural Resources Commission, the Director shall organize the Department and establish administrative procedures in a manner which he/she feels will best enable it to carry out assigned responsibilities.  In doing so, he/she also may consult with the Commission, the Governor, the Legislature and other persons and organizations that he/she fees will benefit the performance of his/her duties.
